1. Who we are

CampusSwap is a student marketplace that lets verified campus users discover listings, communicate with other users, and arrange peer-to-peer exchanges. For privacy questions, contact support@campusswap.app.

2. Information we collect

• Account information: email address, display name, course, year, class, verification status, and Firebase user identifier.
• Marketplace content: listing titles, descriptions, prices, categories, conditions, images, favorites, ratings, and reports.
• Messages and offers: chat messages, offer amounts and statuses, timestamps, read state, and typing state.
• Profile and device data: profile photos, push-notification token, and basic app/device information needed to deliver notifications and operate the app.
• Support information: information you provide when contacting us about an account, report, deletion request, or technical problem.

3. How we use information

• Create and secure accounts, including campus-email verification.
• Display listings, profiles, ratings, favorites, and marketplace content.
• Deliver chats, offers, read receipts, and relevant push notifications.
• Moderate content, investigate reports, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the service.
• Respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.

4. Services and sharing

CampusSwap uses Firebase services provided by Google for authentication, database storage, file storage, and selected notification functionality. We do not sell personal information. We share information only as needed to provide the service, protect users, comply with law, or complete a business transfer.

Listings, profile names/photos, ratings, and messages may be visible to the users involved in the relevant marketplace or conversation.

5. Retention and security

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal requirements, resolve disputes, enforce rules, and maintain security. We use access controls and Firebase security rules, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

6. Your choices and deletion

You can update profile information in the app, manage notification permissions through your device, and delete your account from Profile settings. You can also request deletion if you cannot access the app through our account deletion page. Deletion requests are processed after verifying account ownership. Some information may be retained where required by law or necessary for fraud prevention, security, or dispute resolution.

7. Children

CampusSwap is intended for users who meet the minimum age permitted by applicable law and our Terms. We do not knowingly collect information from children who are not permitted to use the service.

8. Changes

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will update the effective date and provide reasonable notice of material changes in the app or through other appropriate channels.
